Daniel Flormann
It begun with a small reef-shark during Daniel’s first diving course in 1999. A certain fear mixed up with fascination for this elegant creature. Following the way of shark diving, a passion for the beauty of animals and nature was born. In order to preserve and share this beauty, Daniel started underwater photography in 2007 while diving with Great White Sharks. Over the years, the subjects became way broader than sharks only and the photography expanded to land as well. One day after defending his PhD in biophysics in 2017, Daniel presented his first exhibition “Our Oceans”, which was followed by many other exhibitions and international awards. The influence of surrealism may be found in different aspects and projects. Nonetheless, the focus is on the beauty of nature as well as the beauty of misunderstood animals, such as sharks.

“Our task must be to free ourselves…by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and it’s beauty.”
- Albert Einstein
